
About SLC
The Service Learning Certificate Program in the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Education at the University of Maryland offers students the chance to engage actively in five stages of Service Learning: Inventory and Investigation, Preparation and Planning, Action (Direct Service and Advocacy), Reflection, and Demonstration. Participants will achieve the following goals and gain skills and competencies through experiential activities, workshops, discussions, readings, and ongoing training:
- Peer Tutoring
- Development of Social Justice Awareness and Competency
- Personal and Professional Growth
- Social and Civic Responsibility
- Intellectual Development
